So, I started a new job last week, same field, different location. I received an offer on Monday, packed up my office on Tuesday and unpacked at my new office on Wednesday – and I’m still sane! Rapid-fire change is something I take to like a cat takes to water. However, I’m pleased to report that I survived.
My new office was smelly and dusty and even though some of the folks already working there did their best to gussy it up, it – well, let’s just say – it needed a woman’s touch and some potpourri.
On Thursday morning, I added the finishing touches and began to work. People sure are curious. I had some visitors. One of the directors walked into my office, they can do that you know) and said, “Hope girlied-up the office!”
I think that’s the first time anyone has ever referred to my girlying-up abilities. I was secretly thrilled. I’m a girly-girl, don’t chya know. That’s not why I’m really there. This job wasn’t something that I sought out. I knew that God was behind this. He has an agenda. All He wants me to do is show up and be me, so He can be Himself through me.
It’s working, Lord! On Thursday afternoon, there were about six people gathered in my office. That same director said, “Now, we have Hope.” Indeed you do. Indeed you do, but it’s not the Hope you think.
Watch out fellas. Once you see the Light, it’s going to be very difficult not to walk into it!
