Réveillons is a French tradition. It’s more than the custom of midnight mass followed by a family meal, and the opening of gifts, that begins on Christmas Eve. The word “réveillons” comes from the French verb “réveiller” which means to awaken.”
There is something about Christmas that awakens my spirit and renews it afresh every year. My first Christmas as a believer was celebrated exactly 5 years ago tonight. It was my “réveillons.” It was the first Christmas Eve for which my eyes and heart were truly opened. Giving my heart to Christ awakened me and gave me life; it gave me hope – a new Hope.
Whatever your Christmas traditions may be, I pray that this Christmas Eve will awaken a new life – a new Hope in your life.
