Celine Dion sings a beautiful song called, “Pour que tu m'aimes encore ” Translated into English, it means, “that you would love me again.” It’s a song about love lost in the natural, a woman promising anything to win back the love of her life.
It’s that one line in the song that pierces me to the very core of my spirit. When I hear it, it’s as if God is telling me how deeply He longs to be desired by me, the way He desires me. It crushes me and lifts me at the same time.
It crushes me because I know that, as deeply as I want to desire Him in the same way He does me, it’s just not possible. It lifts me up because to know that I am loved so genuinely and profoundly burns in me a yearning – an aspiration – a challenge that even if I cannot reach the desired goal while I’m on this earth I can surely cherish the journey.
Donnez-moi le coeur de Votre Espirit pour que je puisse t’aimer comme Tu m’aimes. Laissez-moi chanter des louanges pour te glorifier à mon dernier souffle.
I love you, Lord.
